Black Dahlia / Bodyguard LP Black Vinyl

An experimental musician and performance artist, Black Dahlia blurs the boundaries between theatre, sound, and surreal spectacle. Her creations exist in dreamlike spaces where masks, characters, and worlds collide - flamboyant, avant-garde expressions that draw as much from performance art, mime, and surrealism as they do from music itself.

‘Bodyguard’ follows Black Dahlia in various theatrical forms and her journey to transformation through reanimation that looks reminiscent of a John Waters film. As well as being the Director for the music video, Black Dahlia was also Producer, Art Director, Choreographer, and Concept creator for her single 'Bodyguard'. Donning various characters, Black Dahlia embodies performance art and its mediums such as contortion, mime, surrealism, Dada, the avant-garde, and body horror. It also features cameos from Melbourne-based artists, Bura Bura as Dr Barget Hower, Manda Wolf as Dr Avanti and Cong Josie as Dr Cong. The artwork for the single itself was illustrated by artist Colin J Thompson and pays homage to surrealism artworks. It was presented with an ABC Rage’s ‘Wild One’ award, was later featured at SXSW Sydney 2024 Screen Festival and had radio coverage on KEXP, 2SER Radio, and FBI Radio.

The Bodyguard 12" Inch Vinyl Single includes an additional bonus demo track from 2018, and an insert with lyrics and a storyboard from the music video.
