Hailing from Eritrea but bred in nipaluna/Hobart, Shewita is a singer-songwriter defying the expectations of what it means to be a musician today.

Raised on R&B and soul, her music pays homage to the genre’s greats from the early 2000s, while reflecting the gospel, funk and electronic influences she was exposed to in her formative years and as a medical student, holed up for hours studying to the sounds of Merry Clayton, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Masego, Kelela & Lianne La Havas. 

When she's not writing and recording, you can find Shewita performing across some of the biggest commercial theatre stages across the country including the Sydney Lyric Theatre, Her Majesty's Theatre & The Regent Theatre in hit shows including Hamilton, Wicked and, currently, MJ The Musical. 

After debuting her live set at Parramatta Lanes, Spring Fling (Music In Exile) & the National Multicultural Festival (Ngunnawal/Canberra) in the back half of 2025, Shewita is primed to release her first single 'Too Soon' - produced by one of Australia's most sought after musicians, Akey Amy - under the Music In Exile banner.
