Renowned as a founding member of beloved Melbourne band The Ocean Party as well as his own project Snowy Band, Liam Snowy Halliwell is a true creator at heart. With an extensive back-catalogue that spans pop, new-wave, punk, alt-rock and folk, the artist leans into his sense of self as he unveils his new solo project under his own name, with debut album Pure Joy.

A deliberate side-step in tone and intent from previous band-focussed (Snowy Band) or fun side-quest (Snowy) albums, Pure Joy draws from a similar palette to the rest of his catalogue - but completely different shades are emphasised. Where previous work has explored life through a more absurdist and playful lens, Pure Joy digs into the big questions with a more head-on approach: “Rebirth, reincarnation, reanimation. Death and birth. The choices or lack-of in death and birth. Double-lives, twins, past-lives. Hindsight. The End of History. Limbo.” Confessional lyrics are drawn from a more wide-eyed and stretched out version of reality, delivered in Snowy’s characteristic up-close-and-personal style.
