Dumb Things are five friends who have been making sun-dappled guitar pop in Magandjin/Brisbane since 2017. While they’ve always taken turns writing songs, on their new album ‘Self Help’ they’ve expanded from three to four songwriters (and vocalists). Their songs are characterised by shimmering back-and-forth guitars, breezy melodies, and wistful lyrics laden with subtropical ennui. Their music walks a fine line between light and shade, encapsulated in an increasingly dog-eared catalogue of page-turning guitar pop.
