Melbourne musician Grace Cummings' fourth album is her most restless and uncompromising yet. Recorded in two weeks at producer Jonathan Wilson's Topanga Canyon studio, Bloodhorse! pushes her trademark sound — soulful voice, campfire melodies, expressive piano — into darker, stranger places: shuddering synths, tense strings, woozy grooves, and moments of full-on psychedelia.
Across 12 tracks, Cummings moves between oblivion and clarity, dissociation and fierce self-possession — processing abuse, control, fear, identity, and the particular exhaustion of making yourself palatable to the world. Like someone building an entire universe in isolation. 

The songs swing wildly in tone and texture, from the tearing, widescreen opener "The Hills Are Alive with the Sound of Morphine" to the dramatic and gothic chaos of "WITCH! WITCH! WITCH!" to the unsettling, stalking chills of "Fake". Weird, fearless, and occasionally very funny, this is one of the most ambitious albums you will hear this year, from a unique Australian voice.
