Each song presents a frame of concrete suburbia, city corners, trackside totes and familial country landscapes. It marks a finishing of a catalogue of McAlpin’s songs in a distinct counter country Americana style the band have pursued for over fifteen years.

This time the familiar darkness and refrain evolves into sharper descending folk into rock each painting a portrait without needing a dense narrative. With Fate Done Nice, Roller One applies the breathing energy of their new lineup to the studio, sharpening their slice-of-life portraiture to cut deeper than ever before.
The core of the record features the "Astral Folk Ensemble"—a transformation of the original guitar and double bass duo into a full quintet featuring drums and keys. This shift allowed the band to evolve their familiar darkness into a sharper, descending folk-rock sound.

Each song represents a distinct point in mind, space, and time. It’s about painting a portrait of the abstract nature of human experience without needing a dense narrative.
This approach was informed by the album's long gestation, with lyrics gathered from the hills of Dandenong, the trackside totes of Cranbourne, and backyards in Brunswick and Berlin.

The title Fate Done Nice is a faint reference to Sun Ra’s Fate in a Pleasant Mood. Lyrics to Sea of Mundane began on a walk home after one of his gigs.

The recording process was created around McAplin’s songs and free flowing, feeling first drumming from Simon Edwards. As always with Roller One, the double bass from Adam Afiff is featured heavily and sets the band apart from a regular country band just playing musical roles. Nick Hurle’s devotion and broad knowledge of piano styles and sounds drives each song to a new world. Cahill Kelly’s guitar debut with the band affirms each song as a pure picture all of its own, referencing tones from Dylan to Prince. Georgia Knight was invited to sing backing vocals and can be heard in her lushly stacked harmonies in So Far.

Tracklist
Night Disappears
Bonny Bird
Sparrow
Motorsports
So Far
Jasmine Breeze
Sea of Mundane
Back In My Arms

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1779/6353/files/RollerOneLP_b990db35-917e-4ae7-bb23-e4c26105c5e0.png?v=1770593964
roller-one-fate-done-nice-lp-blue-vinyl-pre-order
Roller One / Fate Done Nice LP Blue Vinyl ***PRE-ORDER***

Roller One 'Fate Done Nice' LP Blue Vinyl

Preorder shipping from June 12

Fate Done Nice is Roller One’s fourth studio album, this time as a 5 piece astral folk ensemble.
